#myRRSstory: Christine Kenyon - Channeling Legacy
At Really Right Stuff, we believe in celebrating the passion, precision, and dedication that drive creativity. That’s the essence of our #myRRSstory film series, a collection of stories that showcase adventurers, hunters, and photographers who embody these values. These individuals are more than just users of RRS gear, they are visionaries, explorers, and innovators who redefine their craft and inspire us all. Our latest film features Christine Kenyon, an overland adventure photographer based in Utah, whose work captures the magic of the natural world through the lens of her camera.
Christine’s journey into photography was shaped by a childhood steeped in creativity. Her father, the late Lowell Anson Kenyon, was the Chief of the Office of Photography at the Smithsonian Institution and he was a passionate artist and mentor who introduced her to the craft at a young age. Naturally gifted, Christine applied her father’s photographic guidance, both in the field and in the darkroom, to create international award winning B&W work as a teenager. By the age of 30, she had shown in Washington, D.C. galleries, and handled photography assignments covering U.S. Presidents, dignitaries, and celebrities
Growing up, photography was more than just a hobby, it was a way of seeing the world. Surrounded by a creative environment, Christine was constantly experimenting, refining her skills, and finding inspiration in the landscapes and people around her. This early connection to photography stayed with her, shaping the way she approaches her work today.
Though her career took her through diverse creative paths, including music and PR, Christine’s passion for photography never faded. A transformative 7,000-mile road trip across the Rockies reignited her love for capturing the landscapes around her, leading her back to photography.
Christine specializes in landscape and Milky Way astrophotography, blending technical precision with artistic expression. Whether she’s capturing the vast desert skies of Utah, the rugged peaks of the Rocky Mountains, or the delicate interplay of light and shadow, her work tells the story of nature’s raw beauty.
But Christine doesn’t just create images, she shares her knowledge with others. As an educator and workshop leader, she is passionate about teaching fellow photographers the skills they need to capture landscapes and the night sky with confidence. Through her workshops, she introduces students to the incredible locations she explores and helps them master composition, exposure, and post-processing techniques.reignited her love for capturing the landscapes around her, leading her back to photography.
